GM GVUL Changes – January 2017

MetLife recently mailed notices to Salaried GM Employees that announced changes that will impact those participating in General Motors (GM) Group Variable Universal Life (GVUL) insurance. This notification informed GVUL participants that MetLife intends to pursue a separation of a portion of their individual life insurance and annuity business. The new company will operate under the name Brighthouse Financial^SM.

While MetLife will continue to service the GVUL product, there will be certain noticeable changes. The most noted will be the name of several funds, currently labeled “MetLife” or “Met”, will be renamed “Brighthouse”. You are also being requested to participate in the proxy vote associated with this change.
